Acquired McKechnie and Dynacast for £429 million from private equity group Cinven. Raised £230 million in equity
Moved onto London’s main exchange. Entered the FTSE 250.
Sold the McKechnie Aerospace business for £428 million and the PSM business for £30 million, doubling the shareholder value in 18 months
Shareholders received a capital return of £220 million
Completed the acquisition of FKI plc for a total consideration including debt, of just under £1 billion
Sold Logistex (excluding UK) for £50 million
Sold Brush Traction, Logistex UK and Madico for £18 million
Sold Dynacast for £367 million, generating 4x original equity investment. Nearly £1 billion in cash generated from McKechnie and Dynacast acquisition
Gave back £373 million to shareholders which returned virtually all of the previous equity raised from shareholders
Disposal of MPC for £30.7 million, the final piece of the McKechnie and Dynacast businesses, generating a return on initial equity of approximately 3.25 times
Completed the acquisition of Elster Group SE for £1.8 billion. Fully underwritten £1.2 billion Rights Issue and new £1.5 billion 5 year bank facility
Disposal of Truth Hardware for US$200 million
Disposal of Marelli Motori for €212 million in combination with the Truth disposal generated 4x the original equity investment
Melrose passed its ten year anniversary having achieved excellent returns for shareholders, significantly above the norm for most public companies
Sold Crosby and Acco for $1.01 billion, equal to a return on the original equity of over 3 times
Sale of Harris
A sum of £595 million was returned to shareholders in February 2014.
Acquisition of Eclipse
Bridon was sold for £365 million which represented a return on original equity of approximately 2.5x
A sum of £200 million was returned to shareholders in March 2015
Entered into an agreement to sell Elster for £3.3bn
Elster was sold to Honeywell for £3.3 billion
A sum of £2.4 billion was returned to shareholders in February 2016
Completed the acquisition of Nortek for £2.2 billion with a fully underwritten £1.6 billion Rights Issue and £0.6 million of debt.
